The Reformation

During the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church became corrupt and abused its power.  During the Reformation, however, all that changed.  The Reformation was a movement to reform the Christian religion and correct the mistakes of the Catholic Church. New Protestant religions such as Lutherism and Calvinism sprang up.  Many priests and monks tried to criticize the Catholic Church.  Even the Church itself reformed and improved its own structure and teachings.
